Official Records And Research

General Information

The Official Records Department is the keeper of all documents (known as instruments) recorded in Duval County. These include marriage licenses, deeds, mortgages, judgments, claims of lien, satisfactions, and any other instrument or document that is recorded according to the laws of the State of Florida. While official records are public unless otherwise specified by law or placed under seal, the standards for online viewing of public records are set by state law.

Uncertified Copies Of Official Records

The Official Records online portal can be used to search and view official records recorded in Duval County since 1988*.  These records can be viewed at

Once a document is retrieved, uncertified copies may be downloaded or printed on your own printer for free.

*Please note, only marriage licenses recorded after 1995 are available online

Request for Certified Copies

If a document pre-dates our online records, or you require a certified copy, you will need to contact our Official Records staff for assistance in retrieving your desired record.  Please include as much information as possible (e.g. party names, dates of birth, etc.) in order to expedite the process of locating the record.

If you choose to mail in your request, please be sure include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of your requested documents.

Fees for Certified Copies

  • The cost for a certified copy is $1.00 per page, plus a $2.00 certification fee per instrument.
  • Payment can be made in person in the form of cash, money order, cashier's check, certified check, or credit card (debit cards are processed as credit). There is a non-refundable 3.5% service fee on all credit card payments.
  • Payment can also be made by mail in the form of money order, cashier’s check, or certified check to the Official Records and Research mailing address.


**Please note that we do not accept personal checks and you cannot mail cash.
